Aloha mai, Keili here!
It’s Christmas/Holiday/Makahiki time, and I just love it so much. Twinkling lights, fun nights with family and friends, all the last-minute crafts and gifts—and of course, getting ʻAʻA settled in her new home!
In our last post, we shared a video Chris posted about taking AA out of the water after an amazing film screening in town. With the help of so many truly superb people, we got her onto some handmade stands in the yard behind Chris’s aunty’s house.
We are so grateful that our friend had a trailer, that folks came out to help, and that Chris’s aunty has been gracious enough to share her yard with a 26-ft-long, 14-ft-wide new housemate.
She looks amazing, and we could not be in a more blessed space or surrounded by a better community.
Now the real work begins: stripping, repairing, sanding, painting, and full-on MacGyver-ing. We’re thinking of hosting weekly community days where friends can help, eat, and hang. What do you guys think? We know we can’t do this alone, but we’re so excited to get her updated and uplifted.
Also wanted to share that Chris has an art show tomorrow! I know it’s last minute, but it’s going to be one to remember. Celebrating half a century of voyaging—it’s wild and so well-deserved that Chris is invited and involved in such a celebration of culture, history, and dreams.
Hope to see you guys der!
Me ke aloha,
Keili
