Aloha mai kakou,
Chris here
The new rig for ‘A‘ā has begun, some ohe from the ko‘olaus has been drying outside of my parents house. Those pieces will hopefully be our new boom and spar for ‘A‘ā. But she has been dormant at the dockside, waiting for whats next. What is next? A lot of people have been asking that question since our voyage home.
From a companions perspective I can say that Ke’ili is on a good path, she’s getting her masters degree, working a consistent job and pursuing her title as a Kapa practitioner. I am excited for her, getting to see her ambitions of moving in with her sister and starting her own podcast. Here is a photo of her enjoying her day off riding one of my Alai‘a
Kalani, i’m not to sure where in the world he is now. I might have seen a video of him sailing somewhere on the other side of the world. Knowing him, I’m sure he is making the best out of it and making everyone around him smile.
For myself, the life of an artist is quite unstable. The reminders have been very prevalent this month. I thank God for all the misunderstandings that keep my navigation training alive. Since 2022 I have been wanting to make another feature film. However, as the years build up, so has my hard drive space and the pressure of seeing this project through.
Seeking some sort of independence has found me a few side jobs; i’ve recently signed as a sales rep for Imperfects ( https://imperfects.com/) - utilitarian apparel mindfully made by craftsmen. In the near future, hoping to introduce Yoint ( Organic Japanese Hard Tea) to the Islands. And working to become an art professor. I have one opening for a class tomorrow, if anyone is on the North Shore!
I am constantly reminded that what we do for our careers are all side jobs. Staying healthy and positive is the full time. Give thanks for your time here,
P.S. I made some new stickers, feel free to reply with your address if you would like to purchase one (Venmo/Paypal/Apple Cash) they are $5 and will not only help our canoe, but boost crew moral. They are 7” x 3.5” and 3-5 year outdoor laminate for shine long time.
Love you all
What da new sticker look like?
