Aloha mai, Chris here!
One sunny day found me in the wonderful opportunity of taking the students from Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) for a holoholo. Their proffesor, Dan Marriner, leads a wonderful course focused on design circularity; that is, the idea of repurposing already existing materials in their design pursuits. It was an honor being able to share my passion with these students. Their dedication to innovation and sustainability was inspiring to say the least. Most of their projects were focused on salvaging industrial waste into functioning high quality products.

I hope to share some of their future success with you all soon.
The values of our kupuna are nonetheless circular design genius. To hear the creaks of the lashings, feel the tug of a beam reach puff, see a land point moving in front of the manu… these little details are all focusing on the great design of Akua. To share those feelings with other students was beautiful. Above are some screenshots from that day - In this industry full of overproduction, our role as designers and consumers is challenging. Evermore we need influential time with ʻāina and ʻohana to work from a place of purpose.
I mixed some of my 8mm footage with some audio resonation from kupuna; see here
